In the meantime the Closed Beta Test has ended, and the four journalists who tried out the game for Inven.co.kr came to the same conclusion. Yun Hong-man put it like this:

보통의 MMORPG에서는 파티 플레이를 중심으로 게임이 진행되지만 '리니지 이터널'은 그렇지 않았다. 혼자서 상대하기 어려운 정예 몬스터라 해도 이터널을 바꾸면서 싸울 수 있기에 다소 여유로운 편이다. 특히, 기존의 전투법이 아닌, 선발대의 모든 이터널을 동시에 출격시키는 '오만의 탑'은 혼자 하는 재미를 극대화한 콘텐츠라고 생각한다.

In a normal MMORPG, gameplay is centered around parties; not so in "Lineage Eternal". Even when fighting an elite monster that you could barely handle alone, you are under no stress because you can simply change your Eternal. Especially in the Tower of Insolence, where you can use all Eternals of your chosen team at the same time, a rather unconventional fighting method, you can most deeply experience the joy of being alone.

:D

Sounds pretty lame if you ask me. It's not really an MMO if you don't need to interact with anyone else imo. I can play mass effect, final fantasy, dragon age, etc on my ps4, if I want that experience.

찌개, a thick soybean stew with vegetables and fish or meat, is a traditional Korean dish:

Here is an interview with Lineage Eternal Chief Developer Baek Seung-wook and Producer Park Yeong-sik:
http://www.inven.co.kr/webzine/news/?ne ... 87&site=le

About halfway down, above the screenshot of the Treasure Chest they are talking about the rewards that are paid out to party members according to their contribution, where "contribution"/기여도/寄與度 means not damage but the number of skills used, not only for attacking but also defensive skills like tanking and healing.

Talking about skills, some Eternals do have the old drag skills, but not all of them. The fact that we did not see those drag skills in the videos is simply because nobody played an Eternal with such a skill :)

If I understand this right, the bluish lady walking in at the beginning is Ice Fairy Sirra, accompanied by the witch Cerenis in black leather. The place is Cerenis' secret castle and Sirra has captured Ice Queen Freya in that round thingy. Then Antharas is somewhat prematurely attacking and Cerenis has to leave quickly for Aden Castle.

Then the seal holding Freya is breaking, the Ice Queen is a bit disoriented, with confused memories, and suddenly Freya is the player. Freya has a bad premonition about Antharas, the Frost Golem Jadun she has liberated takes her to a Dimensional Door that leads to the outside. Ice Queen Freya is back!

So, in Chronicle 5, so-to-speak at the beginning of time, Sirra was a bad, raidable Boss. Then as of the Freya update players allied with Sirra to overcome the Ice Queen, some time between Lineage 1 and Lineage Eternal they were successful, Freya was incarcerated, and Sirra turns out to have been a bad egg after all, being in cahoots with Cerenis. This is FUN! :D

Lineage Eternal gets delayed again. According to what NCsoft Vice Presdent Yun Jae-su (Kim Taek-jin is still in hiding) said during the earnings report for the 4th fiscal quarter 2016 on February 7, the second test is now planned for "this year"/연내, and if this is successful, Lineage Eternal will enter regular service.

At the same time a mobile version of Lineage Eternal is developed in cooperation with a "North American Studio" (presumably the Iron Tiger Studios in San Mateo) and is expected/예측 to be launched at the same time as the PC version:

Since it's California, at least the mobile version will probably be in English :)

Looks like the Lineage Eternal heroes got their way into MxM already, look at the Arena 3v3 with AI. One of the heroes able to take is the Death Knight from L:E he also appears in one of the PvE instance (Gludio Dungeon) as a boss. Seems NCSoft really is set on the L:E heroes already.

Those Death Knights can also be found in Lineage 1. Here their new mobile version:
https://lineagem.plaync.com/?LM=20200#media

Actually the MxM Death Knight with his reddish-fiery looks is more reminiscent of the Lineage 1 version than of the bluish Zikel from Lineage Eternal:
http://le.plaync.com/hero/index?id=zikel#hero

I strongly suspect that both the L:E developers and the MxM devopers have gotten "inspired" by the Lineage 1 Death Knight. After all, that one has been around for several years now.

As far as Lineage Eternal is concerned, I would be much happier if there were further tests, even just some internal Focus Group Test. When you look at the NCsoft job advertisements, they are heavily hiring for mobile games, and even looking for a Lineage 2 Server Programmer, but nothing for Lineage Eternal:

Couldn't find the LE page at the time of posting. But I was indeed wrong. Still doesn't take away from the fact that, as you say, L:E is complete silent. I expected another a beta announcement by now but nothing. Maybe it got canned due to success of the mobile versions and NCSoft realizing the Lineage story works as well on a mobile device (and has a proper income model) as on a PC?

An alternative to totally scrapping the Lineage Eternal project would be to just abandon the PC version and publish it only for mobile devices. The problem with PC-based games is that there NCsoft is totally dependent on internet cafes installing the game on their computers. What with more and more games coming out - it's not like 10 years ago, when there were basically just Lineage 1 and 2, World of Warcraft and Bubbble Car - and Lineage Eternal having gotten rather underwhelmed reviws for the Beta version, this is a high risk for NCsoft. Mobile games are played by everybody on their own telephone, which means NCsoft just has to deal with the players, cutting out the "broker" in between.

On the other hand, we are now already in the 2nd fiscal quarter 2017, and not one single game has come out of the Iron Tiger Studios in San Mateo. On the third hand, NCKorea not hiring anybody for Lineage Eternal could mean that the whole development has been moved to Northern California. Maybe there are dozens of developers busily developing away up there and the company is just keeping quiet about it, not wanting to raise expectations that might get disappointed.

In about three weeks the earnings report for the 1st fiscal quarter should be published. On that occasion Vice Presdent Yun Jae-su often also answers off-topic questions about future projects, and the journalists these days usually ask about Lineage Eternal. Maybe then we will know more :)
