Knowing NCWest, they will first remove all Chapt2 books from people WH's that they stockpiled before they roll the event.

It has nothing to do with giant codexes, from what i understand these spellbooks are different items, only used to learn any or all of the three new passive skills. It is just another p2w thing, these skills are quite powerful on lvl 30.

That's right. Those are the same kind of Spellbook you needed, in addition to SP, to learn skills in the early Chronicles, back when you still had to talk to your class master to learn a skill :)

In the new Beleth's Forgotten Spellbooks event for very powerful passive skills you do get a random Chapter 1, 2 or 3 Spellbook when double-clicking the starter spellbook you buy for 2.50 US dollars from the L2Store. But if you are unlucky and get just a Chapter 1 instead of a Chapter 2, which you need for the higher levels of the skills, you can upgrade 5 x Chapter 1 plus adena into 1 x Chapter 2, and in a similar way to Chapter 3:

In other words, there are no useless rewards. NCKorea seems to be hearing the complaints from the player base :)

from what I can tell this is also not a "chance" type of promo but a 100% sure increase of those skills to level them up even though very expensive and that it's unique for main/dual class meaning you will need to learn them on both aka quite costly but again 100% chance - this type of event I can dig and support.. it's not even that game breaking compared to their other store promo stuff :)

So we reached the point where they directly sell skills for your toon. Is there anything else left for sale??

I know there are "item skills" already in game, but this is whole new level of service. I bet they will "enhance" it in the future.

And as pointed out by Draecke, the fact that it is a direct transaction, give & take, without any gambling involved in between, is promising for any if, sales increase.

ps As a side note, go check the dedicated players thread at Innova forum about the Sayha Talisman's promo sales. In less than half day time, they went from rage and decisions to boycott Innova, to accept and support the promo as something good.

Draecke is right, this is a direct transaction. The only randomness is whether you get a Chapter 1, 2 or 3 from the starter spellbook. It's always one of the three - no "failed book opening":
http://lineage2.power.plaync.com/wiki/% ... 5%EC%84%9C
If you are not happy with the result and don't want to upgrade from Chapter 1 Books (the upgrading has again a 100% success rate), all three Chapters are tradeable; they just can't be put up in the Auction House (판매대행 이용 불가):
http://lineage2.power.plaync.com/wiki/% ... 1%EC%9E%A5
http://lineage2.power.plaync.com/wiki/% ... 2%EC%9E%A5
http://lineage2.power.plaync.com/wiki/% ... 3%EC%9E%A5

And the leveling up of the skills involves again no randomness - it's always 100% success, like when you learn a skill from your skill window. It's really like in the old days when you needed a Forgotten Scroll to learn Fighter's Will or Protection of Elemental.

Of course this has nothing to do any more with an MMO as a closed ecosystem where you collect resources by killing in-game monsters. Here NCsoft is feeding stuff in from the outside, like those bleeding heart liberals sending food and used clothes to the poor negro children in Africa, ruining the local economy in the process. But from a business point of view that's actually a smart move. Gambling events might in the short run bring in more money, but through the associated frustration when seeing your real money going up in smoke, such events always drive away a certain number of players ("never again will I give one more dollar to NCsoft"). Someone on Seoul actually seems to have adopted a long-term perspective, at least for Lineage 2 in Korea.

I found several topics with outrage after that event.
1. Here most interesting by KON. He calculates how much money player must spend to learn all new l2store skills. $1127 to main or dual class.
2. Here someone will send a petition 'The Game Corporation Cash Control Act'. Actually don't understand how it works, but the same posts I was seen at RU forums :)
3. Here another player, which was sad after start selling new even skills
4. Here next player talk about, how much l2store items need to new common player. He think that l2store item selling because it need to few rich players, which boring from after achive all l2store items :)

While I understand the outrage over NCsoft's pay-to-win strategies, some of the Korean players' comments seem to be a bit beside the point. I couldn't find a "Law Concerning the Sanctioning of Game Corporations Selling Cash Items" (게임사 캐쉬 제재관한 법률) either. What I did find was a "Randomized Items Control Act" (확률형 아이템 규제 법안), an ammendment to the "Law Concerning the Promotion of the Gaming Industry" (게임산업진흥에 관한 법률):
https://namu.wiki/w/%ED%99%95%EB%A5%A0% ... 5%EC%95%88
http://likms.assembly.go.kr/bill/billDe ... 0&ageTo=20

But the point about the current event is that it is not randomized. There is no gambling involved. So raising a ruckus in the press or sending in a petition to the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, the authority which deals with video games in Korea, would have no legal ground.

These skills are just what is DLC for Western game developers. Added game content.
In the past that would've been part of the next update, but since adding new skills costs to many play test hours and developer time they do it like this and make extra $$$

I found that petition! :D http://www1.president.go.kr/petitions/104938
As I understand its alias of Blue House (청와대) site (like White House in USA) and if it right that petition have a chance to go on politics table.
