Dreadnought Skill OE Guide

I have had numerous people ask for my input regarding how to OE skills on the dreadnought, so I made this guide to help people out :-) I rank everything on a scale from 1 to 10 (1 = useless, 10 = absolute must). This is the first iteration of this guide, and as I get feedback it could change.

Each skill will be set up as follows:

Active Attack/Debuff Skills

Image Earthquake
Importance Rank (PvP): 8
Importance Rank (PvE): 6
Enchant Choice (PvP): Power - Most enemies have 300-360 resist, and most dd's have 2 opposite elemtn poles
Enchant Choice (PvE): Power - PvE users choose a Holy pole
Enchant Routes:
  • Power - Increases Power by 48.25 each enchant
  • Cost - Decreases MP consumption and HP consumption
  • Earth Attack - Increases Earth damage

Image Howl
Importance Rank (PvP): 5
Importance Rank (PvE): 5
Enchant Choice (PvP): Chance - This skill can be used repeatedly, and has a low land rate as is in PvP
Enchant Choice (PvE): Chance - This skill can be used repeatedly, no need for time
Enchant Routes:
  • Chance - Increases the success rate
  • Time - Increases the effects duration

Image Shock Blast
Importance Rank (PvP): 10
Importance Rank (PvE): 8
Enchant Choice (PvP): Chance - This should be the first 76+ skill you take to +1, +1 makes it a lvl 81 stun
Enchant Choice (PvE): Chance - Same as above, a lvl 81 stun lands amazingly on mobs at lower lvls
Enchant Routes:
  • Power - Increases Power by 1 each enchant
  • Cost - Decreases MP consumption and HP consumption
  • Chance - Increases the success rate

Image Shock Stomp
Importance Rank (PvP): 10
Importance Rank (PvE): 10
Enchant Choice (PvP): Chance - Only enchant route, and only route you would want to take anyways
Enchant Choice (PvE): Chance - Same as above
Enchant Routes:
  • Chance - Increases the success rate

Image Stun Attack
Importance Rank (PvP): 1
Importance Rank (PvE): 1
Enchant Choice (PvP): Power - Only enchant option (this skill is useless)
Enchant Choice (PvE): Power - same as above
Enchant Routes:
  • Power - Increases Power by 5 each enchant

Image Thunder Storm
Importance Rank (PvP): 10
Importance Rank (PvE): 9
Enchant Choice (PvP): Chance - Having more chance to succeed a stun each time you use it is definitely the way to go
Enchant Choice (PvE): Chance - Same as above
Enchant Routes:
  • Chance - Increases the success rate
  • Cost - Increases Power and decreases MP consumption

Image Whirlwind
Importance Rank (PvP): 7
Importance Rank (PvE): 6
Enchant Choice (PvP): Duel - at +30 duel is the best option to do more damage
Enchant Choice (PvE): Power - Since holy isnt an enchant option, and this skill isnt needed much in PvE, power all the way
Enchant Routes:
  • Power - Increases Power by 1 or 2 each enchant
  • Cost - Decreases MP consumption
  • Fire Attack - Increases Fire damage
  • Water Attack - Increases Water damage
  • Wind Attack - Increases Wind damage
  • Earth Attack - Increases Earth damage
  • Duel - Increases Power during PvP by 3 or 4 each enchant

Image Wrath
Importance Rank (PvP): 7
Importance Rank (PvE): 1
Enchant Choice (PvP): Power - Each enchant gives +1% CP taken, verey nice for an opening skill in oly
Enchant Choice (PvE): N/A - Useless in PvE (mobs dont have CP)
Enchant Routes:
  • Power - Increases Power by 1% each enchant
  • Cost - Decreases MP consumption

Buff/Heal Skills

Image Battle Roar
Importance Rank (PvP): 7
Importance Rank (PvE): 4
Enchant Choice (PvP): Recycle - This is a nice heal in oly and reg PvP, having less reuse is a big plus
Enchant Choice (PvE): Recycle - Having this up every train is nice, but recycle isnt fully needed to do that
Enchant Routes:
  • Recycle - Decreases re-use time by 3 seconds each enchant (1min 10 sec resuse at +30 with frint)
  • Attack - Increases P. Atk.

Image Braveheart
Importance Rank (PvP): 6
Importance Rank (PvE): 1
Enchant Choice (PvP): Power - Only enchant route, 150 additional CP at +15 isn't too bad
Enchant Choice (PvE): N/A - CP isn't needed in PvE
Enchant Routes:
  • Power - Increases CP Recovery Bonus by 10 each enchant

Image Eye of Hunter
Importance Rank (PvP): 1
Importance Rank (PvE): 8
Enchant Choice (PvP): N/A - not used in PvP except to buff as last buff in oly
Enchant Choice (PvE): Power - having an additonal 15% P. Atk. at +15 is a huge help in PvE
Enchant Routes:
  • Power - Increases P. Atk. for insects/plants/animals by 1% each enchant
  • Time - Increases the effect's durations by 3 or 4 seconds each enchant

Image Eye of Slayer
Importance Rank (PvP): 1
Importance Rank (PvE): 8
Enchant Choice (PvP): N/A - not used in PvP except to buff as last buff in oly
Enchant Choice (PvE): Power - having an additonal 15% P. Atk. at +15 is a huge help in PvE
Enchant Routes:
  • Power - Increases P. Atk. towards monsters, magic creatures, Giants and Dragons by +1% each enchant
  • Time - Increases the durations effect by 3 or 4 seconds each enchant

Image Fell Swoop
Importance Rank (PvP): 10 (for +1), 7 (for +15), 4 (for +30)
Importance Rank (PvE): 10 (for +1), 8 (for +15), 5 (for +30)
Enchant Choice (PvP): Power - Additional targets is always a must for any enchant, and keeping this up isn't an issue
Enchant Choice (PvE): Power - Same as above
Enchant Routes
  • Power - Increases Power (+1, +15, +30 for an additional target)
  • Time - Increases the effect's duration by 4 seconds each enchant

Image Thrill Fight
Importance Rank (PvP): 7 (for reg PvP), 9 (for Oly)
Importance Rank (PvE): 3
Enchant Choice (PvP): Cost - the run speed penalty sucks in PvP, getting rid of it is awesome
Enchant Choice (PvE): Cost - not as needed as in PvE due to Alt+Clicking the buff off to train
Enchant Routes
  • Cost - Decreases Speed penalty by 1% each enchant (no penalty at +30)

Toggle Skills

Image Accuracy
Importance Rank (PvP): 4
Importance Rank (PvE): 1
Enchant Choice (PvP): Cost - Only enchant route, useful only against daggers
Enchant Choice (PvE): Cost - Not really needed in PvE
Enchant Routes:
  • Cost - Decrease MP consumption

Image Parry Stance
Importance Rank (PvP): 5
Importance Rank (PvE): 5
Enchant Choice (PvP): Power - Useful to help get revival off, but 1.5% increase isnt much
Enchant Choice (PvE): Power - same as above
Enchant Routes
  • Power - Increase P. Def. by 0.1% and M. Def. by 0.1% by each enchant

Image Polearm Accuracy
Importance Rank (PvP): 5
Importance Rank (PvE): 1
Enchant Choice (PvP): Cost - Loosing less MP is much better than the unneeded accuracy against daggers
Enchant Choice (PvE): Cost - Not really needed in PvE
Enchant Routes:
  • Power - Increases Accuracy (+1, +8, +15, +23, +30 for each +1 accuracy, or +1, +15, +30 for each +1 accuracy???)
  • Cost - Decrease maintaining MP

Image Vicious Stance
Importance Rank (PvP): 2
Importance Rank (PvE): 6
Enchant Choice (PvP): Power - This is only used in very select places, typically when MP isn't an issue
Enchant Choice (PvE): Power - Very nice for raid bosses like Freya/Zaken, MP in Freya isn't an issue, in Zaken you are trying to burn MP
Enchant Routes:
  • Power - Increases Power (roughly +5.5 each enchant)
  • Cost - MP consumption is decreased

Image War Frenzy
Importance Rank (PvP): 1
Importance Rank (PvE): 1
Enchant Choice (PvP): Cost - This skill is useless with the new resist system due to Lionheart almost capping resist
Enchant Choice (PvE): Cost - Same as above
Enchant Routes:
  • Power - Increase Resistance to Stun and Sleep (useless with lionheart's 80%)
  • Cost - Decreases maintaining MP

Passive Skills

Image Boost HP
Importance Rank (PvP): 3
Importance Rank (PvE): 3
Enchant Choice (PvP): Life or Power for HP - Both have their Pro's and Cons depending on weapon choice
Enchant Choice (PvE): Power for HP - More HP is best in PvE
Enchant Routes:
  • Power - Increase Max HP
  • Power - Increase Max CP
  • Life - Increase HP Recovery Bonus (+25% at +1, then +1% each additional enchant)
  • Bravery - Increase CP Recovery Bonus


Image Fast HP Recovery
Importance Rank (PvP): 1
Importance Rank (PvE): 1
Enchant Choice (PvP): Power - Only enchant route
Enchant Choice (PvE): Power - same as above
Enchant Routes:
  • Power - Increase HP Recovery Bonus (+.01 each enchant)


Image Final Frenzy
Importance Rank (PvP): 1
Importance Rank (PvE): 1
Enchant Choice (PvP): Power - Only enchant route, useless skill as a DN is never low enough on HP to take advantage
Enchant Choice (PvE): Power - Same as above
Enchant Routes:
  • Power - Increase P. Atk. (+1 or +2 P. Atk. each enchant)

Image Health
Importance Rank (PvP): 6
Importance Rank (PvE): 4
Enchant Choice (PvP): Power against Bleed, Daggers have bleed, no one uses poison
Enchant Choice (PvE): Either - Depends on main hunting area and the debuffs the mobs give
Enchant Routes:
  • Power - Increase Bleed Resistance (30 Additional at +15)
  • Power - Increase Poison Resistance (30 Additional at +15)

Image Heavy Armor Mastery
Importance Rank (PvP): 3
Importance Rank (PvE): 2
Enchant Choice (PvP): Life or Power - Both have their Pro's and Cons depending on weapon choice

forgive the noobish question but what means "Earth Pole is only good for crypts" ?

you mean Crypts of disgrace? i understand mobs in this area to be earth weak.

does not earth attribute affect Stun ability in that with greater earth attribute comes greater chance to land stun effect skills?

you never did answer my question on the official boards about how you raid solo. if you want, you can answer in PM. i dont play retail so it would be difficult to a) replicate the method and b ) spread it around.

thanks for making me re-think my crypts example, iirc crypts resists earth, so i typo'd there (i'll fix that). wind is the best pole element for crypts

as far as i know, earth does not raise the chance to stun (haven't heard that), but i also haven;t tested that either. earth does however raise the land rate of medusa.

i didnt see your question about raiding solo, but with an 85 wolf, 5/5 epics, lvl 85, 300 wep, and a full support/buff party I can kill most RB's solo (not zaken/freya/DV bosses, etc.). I'm talking regular raid bosses found out in the middle of XP zones. I use focus attack, full songs and dances, counter crit, vicious stance, etc. and the bosses die quickly (less than 2 mins). Titans and GK's kill bosses faster than i do, and im sure other equally as geared chars could do the same.

It's like i'm looking at my own preferred OE options lol
(Exactly the same except i have Howl for time to annoy ppl :P)

Also Eye of Hunter for "Time" increases BOTH duration and power, but less than "Power"
(Eye of Slayer's "Time" only increases duration)

You're right in most of your suggestions, but you're also giving terrible advice in some of them

150 CP once in a fight (twice in a long one) is not a very important enchant route, certainly not deserving of a 6/10

This one is downright terrible advice, you will never ever ever ever ever hit more than 18 target in PVP (18 is target cap with +0 skills), for PvE, it is indeed a very important skill, for pvp, it's a buff steal bait skill and nothing more, deserves no higher than 1

1.5% means 15 point per 1000, doesn't deserve a 5(in either)

this deserves no more than a 2 in either category, Viscous stance is a terrible toggle skill, take off you weapon and go beat an npc, it adds about 90 damage to a crit(at +0), and anyone you fight in pvp will have a lot more pdef than an NPC, not to mention counter crit/Chant of Protection, the full difference in pvp between +0 and +30 might be in the order of 4-7 damage per crit, absolutely worthless to enchant for power, I would leave it alone all together, but if anything cost is much better.

Completely wrong. just like chant of spirit (20%) and Mental shield (80%) doesn't grant you immunity to sleep, root and paralyze, adding 80% resistance from lionheart doesn't make you immune if you had 20% to start.
And even if it did, you can't keep lionheart up more than 50% of the time without renewal songs. Way more important than 1, should be about the same as passive resists

same as fell swoop, targets is worthless in pvp, go for power or keep it for targets for pve

Opinions/advice can differ per person, the slightest bit of help (+ pdef/mdef/patk/critdmg/targets/etc) can make a world of difference in staying alive just long enough to get something done, like needing 1 less hit or your opponent needs 1 extra hit to kill you increasing your own chances of survival, it's never wrong or garbage (for the one it is, but for the other it might be very helpful)
