About the splitting up of Iss Enchanter and Aeore Healer

Postby Elmar » Thu Sep 13, 2012 6:42 am

Are you all well? I am Namgung Gon.

Our sixth discussion topic will be the diversification of the Iss Enchanter and Aeore Healer classes.

Iss Enchanter and Aeore Healer play a very important role in parties.
The roles of the pre-Awakening Hierophant resp. Doomcryer, Spectral Dancer and Sword Muse were separated according to the 3 slots they took in a 9 person party, and there is also a lot of difference between their skills and play style.
Because of this, there may, depending on which plan for the diversification of the Iss Enchanter and Aeore Healer classes we will follow, arise problems with the role assignment in a party, the calculation of the necessary party members etc.
Therefore we would like to make the basic roles of the diversified Iss Enchanter and Aeore Healer classes the same. We had originally planned to let them show a little bit more diversity in some special situations like PvP, but this gives us cause for worry, and, apart from making the roles basically the same, it will also be necessary to maintain a party structure with 7 members.

1. Diversified structure of the classes

The diversified structure of these two classes will be the same as that of the other classes we have talked about before.

Characters who have on update day completed the regular Awakening will be able to Awaken again, selecting one from among the classes in their respective class group. Characters who have not yet Awakened at the time of the update will have to Awaken to the class that is determined by their 2nd -> 3rd class path.

However, taking into account the role and class identity of the Iss Dominator, we are planning to let only Iss Enchanters from the Orc Race choose that class. You could consider this as a similar structure as with the Tyrr Maestro.

2. Plan for the diversification of the Iss Enchanter class

1) General direction for the splitting up of the Iss Enchanter class
Iss Hierophant/Sword Muse/Spectral Dancer/Doomcryer will inherit the characteristics of their 3rd class. We are planning to create a state of affairs where the differences between them when they join a hunting party are reduced to a minimum. Because we aim for a party structure where the present 7 person system is maintained, it is possible that the differences between the abilities of each Enchanter class become bigger after splitting them up, or, in special cases, one or several classes become inevitably neglected.
Since nobody, neither in the Development Department nor among you, our esteemed customers, wants such a situation to arise, we are planning to make the party-assisting buff abilities equal, while individuality will be introduced in the solo combat abilities and the debuff abilities.

As far as the expansion of the classes' individuality is concerned, we will strengthen that aspect step by step in the updates after Chapter 3.

Since the Iss Dominator class is earmarked to clearly continue it's earlier role of especially serving the clan, it will be transformed so that it can fulfill those unique tasks.
For this purpose it is necessary to adjust some of the buffs all Iss Enchanters have in common as well as the buffs of the Dominator. In order to get a clear impression of the scope and limits of possible buffing methods we have envisioned so that the Iss Dominator can play his special role in the clan, please take a look at this list:

A. Iss Hierophant/Sword Muse/Spectral Dancer/Doomcryer
- Buffs of the Poem type can only be used on party members
- Sonata buffs can only be used on party members
- Harmony buffs are used on single targets

B. Iss Dominator
- Buffs of the Poem type can only be used on clan members (can not be applied to party members)
- Sonata buffs are deleted
- Harmony buffs are used on single targets
- Harmony buffs can be additionally used on clan units

# The buffing abilities of the Iss Dominator are still under discussion and may be further modified in the future.

2) Class characteristics and skill configuration of Iss Enchanters

Awakened class
Diversified class
Role and characteristics
Acquirable skills
Iss HierophantSpecializes in the use of skills and supports the party in fights via a mesmerizing AoE Mutate debuff.1. An active skill that instantly transforms the enemies around the target into harmless creatures.
2. A passive skill that reduces the re-use time of skills.
Iss Sword MuseSpecializes in solo defense abilities and supports the party in fights via a mesmerizing AoE Silence debuff.1. An active skill that instantly Silences the enemies around oneself.
2. A passive skill that increases P.Def. and M.Def. by 2 levels (it is under consideration to let the effect apply only in PvP).
Iss EnchanterIss Spectral DancerSpecializes in solo attack abilities and supports the party in fights via a mesmerizing AoE Petrify debuff.1. An active skill that instantly Petrifies the enemies around oneself.
2. A passive skill that increases P.Atk. and M.Atk. by 2 levels (it is under consideration to let the effect apply only in PvP).
Iss DoomcryerHas achieved harmony between attack and defense abilities and supports the party in fights via a HP-decreasing debuff.1. A DoT skill that continually reduces the HP of targets in a certain area (it is under consideration to let the effect apply only in PvP).
2. A toggle skill that increases P.Atk., M.Atk., P.Def., M.Def. by 1 level.
Iss DominatorRestores and increases clan members' CP and supports the clan in PvP fights via strong debuffs.1. An active skill that increases for a certain period of time clan members' max. CP while also restoring it.
2. An active skill that instantly blocks the normal attacks of the enemies around the target (can not be used on monsters).
3. A passive skill that increases max. MP.

3) Main points of the balance adjustment for the Iss Enchanter class
A. Power and duration of debuff skills will be increased.
B. The average damage when hunting monsters will be increased.
C. The effect of Crazy Nocturne will be changed: the effect will be that the probability of party members suffering a Critical Hit when receiving normal attacks and magical skills is reduced.

3. Plan for the diversification of the Aeore Healer class

1) General direction for the splitting up of the Aeore Healer class
The classes of the Healer series will inherit the characteristics of their 3rd class. We are planning to create a state of affairs where the differences between them when they join a party are reduced to a minimum. Because of a party structure where the 7 person system is maintained, it is, like with the Enchanters, possible that the differences between the abilities of each Healer class become bigger after splitting them up, or that some class becomes neglected.
Therefore we aim not only to revive the individuality of the diversified Healer classes, but we also think that it would be desirable to make the differences between the abilities as well as their power not too big, so that a situation can be avoided where only specific classes are invited into parties.

2) Class characteristics and skill configuration of Aeore Healers

Awakened classDiversified classRole and characteristicsAcquirable skills
Aeore CardinalA Healer specializing in healing abilities as well as recovery of clan members.1. A party buff that increases for a certain period of time the power of received heals.
2. An active skill that restores clan members' HP and CP.
Aeore HealerAeore Eva's SaintA Healer specializing in using skills quickly after each other as well as MP restoring.1. A party buff that increases for a certain period of time the power of received recharges.
2. A passive skill that reduces the re-use time of skills.
Aeore Shillien SaintA Healer with a background of high M.Atk., specializing in MP restoring.1. A party buff that increases for a certain period of time the power of received recharges.
2. A passive skill that increases M.Atk.

3) Main points of the balance adjustment for the Aeore Healer class
A. The MP consumption when using party recharging skills is increased, and the amount of MP restored to the party members is also increased.

With this article about the diversification of the Iss Enchanter and Aeore Healer classes our discussion titled "Your Voice 2: Working Together" is coming to an end.

As far as the Judicator class is concerned, which is not included in the text above, that is still under internal debate and was therefore not put up for discussion.

Ladies and gentlemen, after the discussion has been closed on September 18 and we at the Development Department have sorted out our answers to your suggestions, we will communicate them to you. At this time I will also talk about the "Direction of the Judicator Class". I would like to take this opportunity to thank you for your continued concern and love.
And I would especially like to thank everybody who took part in the discussion during all this time. If you have any suggestions concerning the diversified structure of Iss Enchanters and Aeore Healers, or any other feedback, I would be grateful if you could post them in the discussion thread below.
The three best suggestions about the splitting up of each class will be rewarded with a Blessed Scroll R-95 Grade.

Thank you.

Quick read:
-Are they making Dominator enchanters a different class?
-Where is the Judicator specialization?
-The "general" type existing classes seem better suited for all around activities (exp, raids, pvp) than the specialized classes which will excell in one field only. For example on healers, an ex-cardinal with stronger heals will be best suited for PvP, raids, while the others who recharge MP better for open field exp grounds
-They acknowledge the fact that due to specialaization and difference in pre-awakening roles, some classes may become marginalized (not wanted). Even if they say they will "fix" things, their history in responding to these situations is really bad. Also the differences in Korean-Western mentality may make things worse (Hierophant example)

On the link that Elmar provided (http://lineage2.plaync.co.kr/board/foru ... eId=518502) after the list of changes, we can see some player's opinions and further below the polls that NC Soft does regarding the changes. Correct me if I am wrong but it seems to me that Koreans developers make summary polls. They ask how the find the changes the way they presented them, for example Summoners, Wizard, and Archers together not according to class. Are they so narrow minded? How can they draw conclusions if the changes for each class were good when Summoners, Archers and Wizards vote on the same poll?

Waiting for translation, it seems pretty straightforward but there's a couple things I still don't get, like will Dominators, Hierophants and Doomcryers have Sonatas removed and stuff.

I think they want back to the old Dominator model: in parties only DC was wanted and Domi's had a hard time finding one. In mass PvP though Dominator had a key role due the high level skills he got. On the other hand DC's role in mass PvP was simply to keep buffs up, nothing more. What I think is that thay may give some high level clan wide buffs, extra to the ones from normal Enchanters. The question is how the hell ISS Dominators are supposed to level. Just with clan parties?
