Summoners in Valiance and onwards

It depends on what pets you use and what class you're fighting. In some cases you can go the full 10-20 seconds without worry and in other cases, summon barrier buys you enough time to balance > barrier > balance. It all depends on the fight. There's no straight forward plan for every situation. Adaptation is key.

Sorry, but even Nighthshade can't stand a 40k+ hit. You can't go Barrier -> Balance -> Barrier. The reuse time on Barrier is just to high and the duration of Barrier to short. Also Barrier -> Balance -> Exile -> Dispartion -> Barrier doesn't work. You're screwed when your 1st pet dies, you have a 30 second delay till you resummon and cast Barrier again (since you can only cast Barrier when 1st (TP) summon is alive) and no TP until you can resummon it. Also you're penalized by using a skill why all other classes can still do damage while their Barrier or Ultimate Defense/Evasion or Celestial is active. A Wynn without Barrier is a dead Wynn.

What?. I said nothing about using barrier twice. Re-read balance -> barrier -> balance.

You can use barrier while your TP summon is dead as long as its body is still present.

Nightshade can save you from a 40k hit. They have a lot of health. Also if you're taking damage that high you shouldn't be doing Olympiad.

Being able to attack while in Barrie would make the Wynn very OP. Being able to put barrier on the pets is ok until you consider reflect damage which is just a broken mechanic in itself.
