Fast cast speed and high crit rate and other things you should read up on that you'll find very interesting.

Same thing after awakening. >.< personally I'd rather have an elf wizard in party that a dark elf cause the elf wont be sitting on his butt after 2 minutes.

Why would the dark elf be sitting on his butt?

With arcane power and empowering echo, you're looking at a 45% increase in MP consumption. Without those two skills activated, you be seeing much of a benefit to choosing a DE wizard to exp over other races.

Shouldnt they also do quite a bit more dmg though, and be able to pace themselves more in a party?

On a average hit yes, but not much more, without emp echo they only have about 3-4k extra matk, which doesn't make a huge difference, however a le mage crits a hell of a lot more. I haven't done any tests, but I'd think le mage would out dmg a de mage due to so many more crits over time, in pve anyway.

If they use emp echo and arcane power though, even with 2 healers and one of those just recharging, you can't keep up with a de mages mp use and they'll run out of mp even with a Rebirth every 5 minutes. Though I think this is more a indication of just how bad the healers recharge is compared to how much mp everyone now has and how much skills use. 180+ mp per recharge is a lot less than a single aoe nuke uses.

Also you're looking a ~27.5% increase in damage for 45% more MP.

With 2 healers its easy to keep 3 de mages with mp. We do trains in upper GOG with no mp herb drops and we never run out of mp. Usually I'm still on half mp when we use rebirth, just cos we are lazy to recharge all the time. But I agree with you that recharge sux.
